The Bx3 Tour Discussions of the Bx3 tour
|
Note: The tour is over, the guys had a BLAST playing for all of you. However, we haven't had a post since March but meanwhile I've had tons of spammers try to pollute over here. So I've disabled posting to the forums. If they tour again, you can be sure we'll open the forums back up. In the mean time, for some great bass discussion you can head over to http://www.talkbass.com. - Thanks!

Can't wait to see the show!! Our Bass player e-mailed all in our band to tell us about it and to say he was treating!!! I know this is a bass player thing, but I didn't know bass players EVER treated;)!! Just a joke guys... just a joke. By the way bx3webmaster, could you somehow tell Jeff that I used to work for Royal Cartage in LA while I was at GIT and I used to move his gear. I was luckey enough to buy one of his 12" EV cabs from him. I can't wait to see all the guys, It's gonna be a great night. |

Pics from the pgh show. I think it posted the short video clips as well. FANTASTIC show. I was also at the Hard Rock Cafe show. I have to admit this show was MUCH better. The reception that Jeff Berlin got just goes to show how jazz starved Pittsburgh is. He always puts on a great show and this was no exception. He was also kind enough to sign my friend's son's Jeff Berlin bass model which made his day for sure. Overall Jeff put on his usually great show and I think was truly humbled by the AMAZING reception he got. I would imagine being the jazz guy on the tour with some rock bassists he likely doesn't get nearly the accolades he deserves.
Stu...Stu....Stu.....chanted the audience as is the typical welcome for the amazing Stu Hamm. He put on an energetic and technical show for sure. His combination of tap and slap are always great music and entertaining show. I really missed the included Peanuts theme song from the last show, it was very funny and very technically challenging!
Billy Sheehan...I am not a huge fan but he was GREAT last night. He came out and rocked the audience from the get-go. I think a couple
times during his set I had to stop and take a breath cause I was holding it while he was shredding away. He truly is a amazing rock bassist. Thank goodness he didn't do like Stu's joke and stop with the A string in his lessons
Thanks all for a great show. My only gripe was that having this down in the South Side of Pittsbugh made for a parking nightmare. That area is typically very busy on a Sat night and the added mass of people there to see you guys made it brutal finding a spot. Next time perhaps down at Station Square or something like the Hard Rock somewhere else in the area so we can get the same huge crowd in but where parking is not so crowded.
Thanks
Mike Egenlauf

Thanks for the review and the pictures Mike! I also had a heck of a time finding a parking spot in San Francisco, and it was on a Wednesday night! _________________ "I'm not about to do a free-form jazz exploration in front of a festival crowd"

Great show guys!!!! If I could, a few comments.....
1. We knew the South Side would be a real bear to park in so we came early, a hour and a half, found a spot two blocks down, had a nice meal and had plenty of time to get in line to watch the show from the third row!!!
2. Yea Stu.. we are a bunch of patriotic Mo-Fo's here in the 'Burgh. It's sad that you don't get that reaction everywhere considering the great performance of the Anthem!!!
3. I LOVE JEFF BERLIN!!!! Yes, we are starved for good jazz/fusion here in Pittsburgh, thanks Jeff for the great taste!!
4. STUUUUU.... STUUUUU.... Need I say more!! The last time I got to see Stu live was with the G3 tour. Great tone, great technique, great attitude, great guy, great bassist!!!!
5. Billy, Billy, Billy. Yes, you are an amazing rock bassist!!! You had some old fans there last night, TALAS RULES! The tone was just a bit saturated for my taste, but I would never take anything away from your playing, truly amazing.
6. Jude Gold and Johnny Mater, YYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! Pittsburgh knows, we get it, you guys ROCK!!!!
Thanks for bringing the show to Pittsburgh, it was a thrill to see all three togeather. Please come back!!!!
Good luck and safe travels for the rest of the tour!!!!!! |
